Protein Strengthening Treatment: Why and When
Let's talk about another hair treatment....sometimes you need a little extra to focus on a problem area. We have discussed hot oil treatment. So let's shift our gears to hone in on protein. First let's talk about what protein does for the hair. I will be making product recommendations along with process.
Let's get a little scientific...your hair is mostly made of a protein called keratin. Keratin a made up of amino acids. We have all been on a health journey one way or another. So the same way protein works for muscles can be applied to hair. Helps to build strength, increase elasticity, and when built properly makes us look fabulous (provides structure). I won't go deeper cause now we know enough to be dangerous (in a good way)
What does the protein in hair do?

The benefits of a protein treatment are abundant but I will list the top 5 reasons I apply them for my clients:
- Increase elasticity in the hair
- Repair heat damage (mild to moderate)
- Repair chemical damage(mild to moderate)
- Address brittle hair
- Reduce fizziness
How do I know if I need a protein treatment?
When your hair feels weak, limp, or dull, (sometimes described as gummy) you are in need of a protein treatment. Protein shampoo and conditioner are good for the hair and this is especially true for dry, damaged and frequently dyed hair. A reparative protein hair care routine would benefit those whose hair has been left dry and brittle as a result of too much exposure to heat, chemical services and styling aids.
How do I do a protein treatment?
The process for doing a protein treatment is the same as a deep condition. You will just substitute the Chi Shampoo and conditioner for the Bain de Terre Shampoo and Conditioner. Here's the deep condition process
Why do you recommend Bain de Terre?
Like all products I recommend I use them and have seen the benefits. Here's the benefits I saw using this product (and from their site too...but it's true):
- Luxuriously moisturizes dry hair
- Hydrates overly dry, damaged hair
- Strengthens weak, fragile hair and defends against future damage
- Helps hair grow long & twice as strong
- Restores optimal moisture balance
- Helps restore strength and brings shine to the hair.
- Re-hydrates hair follicles for incredible softness.
Whelp that's all for now. I hope this was helpful and see you next week 😊
